Obituary of Ted R. Jones

Ted Jones Jr. age 73, or Coffeyville, Kansas passed away following a brief illness on May 22, 2021 at The Journey Home Hospice in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Ted was born on June 14, 1947 in Kansas City, Kansas to Theodore Robert Jones Sr. and Elizabeth "Virginia" Wibberding Jones both formerly of Kansas City, Kansas. They preceded him in death. Ted attended Argentine High School and Kansas Junior College. He worked for various banks in the Kansas City area before moving to Coffeyville, KS to take a job as Vice President at Coffeyville State Bank in 1982. In 1990, he purchased Sears Roebuck in downtown Coffeyville, KS which later became Jones Mercantile. Later, he would close the store and go to work for Amazon in management from which he would retire. Ted was a First Degree Mason, member of the Episcopal Church, and a social member of the VFW. His hobbies included attending auctions, collecting and restoring antiques. He was amazing at woodworking and carpentry, all of which were self-taught. He could build nearly anything. Recently he had taken up restoring an antique car. Socializing with friends was Ted's favorite thing. He was always up for a game of bones or cards. He will be remembered for his enormous laugh, his love for life, his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his brother, Charley Jones of Kansas City, KS; Ted is survived by his son, Martin Jones and favorite daughter-in-law, Lorraine and their children, Judah 11, Shiloh 9, Luke 4, Shelby 18 months, all of Georgetown, Texas; and by his daughter, Marci Jones Higbee and husband, Chris and their children Sydney 21, Aidan 18, Carver 13, Fynley 8 all of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; sisters, Louise Jones Crable of Kansas City, KS, and Sally Miller and two nephews of Gardner, KS and close friends, John Powell of Shreveport, LA, and Adrian Wilson of Coffeyville. Ted's wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes spread in a special place with no service following the cremation. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to The Journey Home Hospice 900 Washington Blvd Bartlesville, OK 74006; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
