John L. "Jack" Schmid, passed away May 26, 2021 after a long illness. He was 45. Jack was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on November 30, 1975, graduated from Field Kindley High School, attended Kansas State University and graduated from Pittsburg State University. He was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He worked with his dad at Perl Auto Center. Jack enjoyed working on cars, playing with his dogs, and he loved his family dearly. He is survived by his parents, Candy Schmid, John W. Schmid and Carol Schmid, all of Coffeyville, Kansas; his sister Kimberly (Jason) Lambert; nephew Jacob and niece MacKenzie, all of Yorkville, Illinois; stepbrother Andrew Sullivan and niece Bella of Coffeyville, Kansas; uncle and aunt Paul and Kathy Schmid of Grand Lake, Oklahoma; aunt Anne Retonde of Merriam, Kansas, and many good friends who have been a great comfort at this time. Cremation has taken place under the direction of David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held by the family on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Bluff Camp in Coffeyville. This will be a family friendly gathering and children are welcome. Memorial contributions can be made to the Coffeyville Friends of Animals Shelter; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
