Jerry Wendell Best, 84, of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 27, 1936 in Lamar, Colorado to Lewis and Cora Grace (Davidson) Best. Jerry grew up and attended school in Lamar graduating from Lamar High School. Jerry was Manager of Gibson's Discount Center for over 30 years, working at stores in Canyon City, Colorado, Independence, Dodge City, Coffeyville and Hereford, Texas. On February 8, 1981 he married Ruby Wintjen at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Jerry was a member of Tyro Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing and hunting, but most of all liked to spend time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Ruby of the home; his children, Lisa Parker and husband, Brent of Arizona, Phil Best and wife, Heather of Idaho, Debbie Taylor of Nowata, Oklahoma and Lisa Taylor of Wann, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Eldon, Marlene and Pat. Following Jerry's wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, and no service is scheduled at this time. The family will have a private inurnment in Robbins Cemetery at a later date.
