Obituary of Raymundo Castillo Azuara
Please share a memory of Raymundo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Raymundo Castillo Azuara, age 77, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
Raymundo was born on May 13, 1944 in Poza Rica, Veracruz, Mexico to Raymundo Azuara Sánchez and Soledad Castillo Escobedo. He grew up in Potrero del Llano, Veracruz, Mexico until the age of 17 when he left his childhood home to move to San Jose, California where he finished high school. He was called to serve on a mission for The Church of Latter-day Saints in New Mexico in 1965. In the early 1970's, he moved to Coffeyville, Kansas, where he made his home.
He worked as a machinist for several years for Funk Manufacturing Company. He was an entrepreneur and had many business ventures, including owning and operating a local restaurant, Raymundo’s Mexican Restaurant, and selling Mexican imports. He was the proud business owner of his successful Professional Cleaning Company for over 40 years. During this time, he was contracted by many local businesses, individuals, and even major theaters in Branson, Missouri.
Raymundo enjoyed traveling to Mexico and made countless trips driving to Potrero del Llano to visit extended family and friends while taking care of his land. He was very proud of his farm in Mexico where he planted bananas and oranges. He loved being outdoors wherever he was and enjoyed watching the deer in the field behind his current family home. He enjoyed watching fútbol, sharing meals with his family, telling jokes, making funny faces, creating laughter, and going to the beach in Mexico. Most of all, he loved the simple things in life which included being surrounded by his family and friends.
On April 24, 2001 he was united in marriage to his wife, Leticia Sosa, who survives of the home in Coffeyville. Raymundo is survived by his eight beloved children; Alma Azuara, Gloria Azuara Johnson, Darlene Azuara, Carmen Azuara Albart, Rachel Azuara (all from his marriage to Carmen Azuara), Evalys Azuara, Raymundo Azuara, and Yessica Azuara (from his second marriage to Leticia Sosa). He is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Larenz Johnson, Luna Johnson, and Sofia De la Torre, his son-in-laws, John Albart and Alvaro De la Torre, his brothers and sisters across California and Mexico, nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymundo Azuara Sánchez and Soledad Castillo Escobedo and brothers, Antonio and Jacob Escobedo.
There are not enough words to depict the man that he was, but one thing is certain: he was truly one of a kind. He was such a hard worker his whole life with an unbelievable work ethic, always on the go, known for his sense of humor, very humble, and a true family man. His presence was always known and will forever be missed.
