Obituary of Wilba LaFern Gorby

Wilba LaFern (Gordon) Gorby, age 90, of Peru, Kansas Passed away on July 14, 2021 at 10:00 pm at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Sedan, Kansas. Wilba was born on June 13, 1931 in Caldwell, Kansas to Joseph and Ronalda (Macklin) Gordon. She grew up in Caldwell and Argonia, Kansas where she attended school. She worked at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita and had several other jobs throughout her life. She met the love of her life, Doyle Gorby of Peru Kansas and was united in marriage to him on August 3, 1952. They made their home south of Peru until around 1960 when they moved into the town of Peru and found their forever home. Wilba is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Doyle Gorby; their two children, Beverly Hoffine of Caney, Kansas, Gary Gorby and wife Julie also of Caney, Kansas; many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and even great- great- grandchildren along with extended relatives and close friends. Wilba was preceded in her death by her parents, Joseph and Ronalda Gordon; two sisters, Zola and Brenda and a brother, Leon. Following Wilba's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Coffeyville, Kansas. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the God's Lighthouse of Prayer Church in Peru, Kansas. Frank Mundy will be officiating the service.
