Donia Rae (Swearingen) Key, age 61, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 with her loving husband by her side holding her hand. Her suffering is now over. Donia was born on April 5, 1960 in Wauseon, Ohio to Donald James and Doloris Kay (Freede) Swearingen. She grew up in Delta Junction, Alaska until the family moved to Ohio where she completed her last years of high school at DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, Ohio. She eventually moved to Coffeyville, Kansas where she completed her CNA and CMA Certifications and T1 Computer Rating courses through CCC. It was in Coffeyville that she met the love of her life, Sam Key. The couple were married on August 30, 2013. They enjoyed kayaking and motorcycling along with many other things. Donia was a talented and wonderful artist; she was also very crafty. She had a caring soul, was full of compassion and positivity for her family, friends and four-legged children. She was a lover of animals, had an extraordinary sense of humor, was always learning new things and very ambitious. Surviving to cherish her memory is her loving husband and best friend, Sam Key of the home and his family; her son, Eric James of Beaverton Oregon; her siblings, D.J. and Jennipher Swearingen, Ramonda and Troy Swearingen, Lee and April Powers, Kimberly Powers and Tracin Powers; several nieces and nephews that she was a fun and loving aunt to; along with other extended relatives and close friends. Donia was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Doloris Swearingen; son, Aaron Tug Small and a sister, Bonita. Following Donia's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. No public services are scheduled at this time. The family will host a gathering for family and friends to celebrate her life at a later date.
