Obituary of Jay Parrott

Please share a memory of Jay to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Clarence "Jay" Parrott, age 64, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away in his home on Friday, October 15, 2021. He was only a couple weeks shy of celebrating his 65th birthday. Jay was born on Halloween in 1956 (October 31st) in Wichita, Kansas to Franklin and Nadine Parrott. Halloween ended up being one of his favorite times of year. Jay graduated high school in 1974 at Wichita South High. He spent his youth traveling the United States with friends and living life. He had a passion for loving animals, especially dogs. It wasn't long before Jay discovered he liked helping people, it ignited something inside him to pursue a career as a Paramedic. That experience increased his knowledge and drive to become a nurse. In 1992 he graduated from Butler County Commit College as a Registered Nurse. After nursing school Jay worked as a trauma nurse in the ER at St. Francis Hospital (aka Via Christi). It was while working there in the hospital ER that he met the love of his life, Ginny Moon who was working for Sedgwick County as a paramedic. The couple were married on November 4, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon marrying Ginny, Jay gained three wonderful children and always loved them as his own. They filled their time traveling, sharing new experiences and taking family vacations. As retirement grew near, Jay and Ginny decided to retire in Coffeyville, Kansas to be closer to their daughter and grandkids. Jay looked forward to the quiet life of lovin' on his dogs, reading a good book, going out shooting and spending time with his family. Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Ginny Parrott of the home; children, Amy Heinz and husband, Ray of Coffeyville, Kansas; Jeremy Moon of Wichita, Kansas, Brad Moon of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Kyle and Katelynn; his mother, Nadine Parrott of Wichita, Kansas; siblings, Peggy Zambrano, Connie Vickers, Frank Parrott all of Wichita, Kansas; several nieces, nephews extended relatives and friends. Jay was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Parrott. Following Jay's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. No public services are scheduled at this time. The family will host a gathering for family and friends to celebrate his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to David W. Barnes Funeral Home to help defray the cost of final expenses. Donations can be left with the funeral home or mailed to David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337 or card by phone 620-251-6008.
