Sharon Kay McCann, 61, of Coffeyville passed away Friday night (May 9, 2008) at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born on December 23, 1946 at Coffeyville to William Frank and Hope Elizabeth (Hankins) Cook, Jr. She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended local schools graduating from Field Kindley High School. Following high school she attended Emporia State Teachers College in Emporia, KS.
On October 1, 1965 she married Riley L. McCann, Jr. at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. They were later divorced.
In 1985 she moved to Dallas, Texas where she worked as a Legal Assistant for T.I.C. until returning to Coffeyville in 1997.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, P.E.O., and Sorority. Served on the Library Board, was active in Friends of the Brown Mansion, and the historical society.
Survivors include one daughter, Monica Lynn Cook of Independence; one son, Riley L. McCann III of Coffeyville; one brother, Arvin Todd, of Bartlesville, OK; three sisters, Joan Ralston of Dallas, TX, Carolyn Bonham of Austin, TX, and Kim Cook of Coffeyville; five grandchildren, and special fiends, Ann Murrow, Carolyn Dupree, Karen Foster, Klinell Hey, Peggy O'Connor, Sandra Harris and Janice Wright all of Coffeyville.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (May 14, 2008) in the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville with Reverend J. Collins officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation or Coffeyville Friends of Animals, Inc.; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337
