Wayne Cummings, age 86, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Friday morning, January 26, 2007 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Wayne was born August 19, 1920 in Sedan, Kansas to Walter Nathan and Mary Etta (Hill) Cummings. He grew up and attended school in Chautauqua County. He married Frances Southwood on February 28, 1942 in Sedan, Kansas. He served in the United States Army from September 1, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on October 6, 1945.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sedan and a lifetime member of the Sedan V.F.W. Post #6373. He loved his grandchildren, his dog Tipper, and making clocks.
He is survived by two brothers, Ernest Cummings of Pawhuska, Oklahoma and Carl Cummings of Peru, Kansas; one sister, Leona Call of Copan, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Cummings of Sedan, Kansas; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Jack and Jimmie and two sisters, Patsy and Virginia Lee.
Family and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas with Pastor Gary Cole officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the United States Army Honor Guard of Ft. Riley, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association and these remembrances may be left with the funeral home.
