Larry Joe Coffey, age 72, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at CRMC in Coffeyville, Kansas. Larry was born on July 15, 1949, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Raymond and Ethel (Ransom) Coffey. He grew up in the Coffeyville area where he attended local schools and graduated from Lenapah High School. On June 8, 1969, he married the love of his life, Laurel Sue “Susie” Sleeper at the Cherryvale Christian Church in Cherryvale, Kansas. The couple made their home in Cherryvale until 1973 when they moved to Coffeyville, Kansas. Together they had three children, Jason, Tommy and Jay Ann. Susie preceded him in death on February 9, 2017. Larry enjoyed raising cattle, going to local auctions, and crossword puzzles. Survivors include two sons Jason Coffey and wife, Mendy of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Tommy Coffey of Coffeyville; one daughter, Jay Ann Thompson and husband, Brian of Altamont, Kansas; five grandchildren, Casey Thompson, Jonathan Coffey, Joey Coffey, Jamie Thompson and Madison Coffey; one brother, Gary Coffey; and sister, Joyce Heacock; and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and his wife, Susie. Cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.
