Obituary of Sherry D. McGinnis

Sherry D. McGinnis, 66, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at her home. She was born on February 10, 1955 at Coffeyville, Kansas to William J. and Roselea (Osbourn) Gray. Sherry grew up and attended school in Coffeyville completing her education at Field Kindley High School. On June 2, 1972, she married the love of her life Terry McGinnis. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville and later in South Coffeyville. Sherry was employed at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, and later as a Dispatcher for the Coffeyville Police Department were she worked for 16 years before becoming a Case Worker at Four County Mental Health were she was employed until retiring in 2016. Sherry enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and loved spending time surrounded by her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Terry of the home; her sons, William McGinnis of Coffeyville, and Michael McGinnis of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; her sons close friend Tyler Stroud of Coffeyville; four sisters, Debbie Thaxton of Dewey, Oklahoma, Gina Baze of Coffeyville, Brenda Talbott of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, and Tina Eveliegh of Coffeyville; one brother, Randy Gray of Grand Lake, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Following Sherry's wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
