Obituary of David L. Rhodes

David Lynn Rhodes, age 78, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Dave was born on July 26, 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Hubert and Velma Rhodes. He grew up in Edna, Kansas where he attended school and graduated from Edna High School in 1961. He attended Pittsburg State University and graduated with a degree in accounting. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and spent a year in Vietnam and was discharged as a Captain in 1967. Following his military service, he went to work with Arthur Young and Company in Tulsa. While there, he obtained his Certified Public Accountant Certificate and continued to work in the oil and gas finance/accounting environment until his retirement in 2002.
In 1962 he married Vikki Cook; to this union two children, Craig and Lisa were born. They divorced in 1982.
In 1984 Dave was remarried to Diane Cook. She survives at the home. Following retirement, he and Diane moved to South Edna, Oklahoma where they built a home and lived there until his death. He had many interests, including maintaining their acreage, creating stained glass art and playing solitaire on his computer.
In addition to his wife, Diane, surviving to honor his memory are his son, Craig Rhodes and wife, Rose of Owasso, Oklahoma, his daughter, Lisa Patino of Collinsville, Oklahoma, and step-daughter, Amy Russell of Geary, Oklahoma,; grandchildren, Nick Brightmire, April Brightmire, Dylan Rhodes and Mary Null.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Velma Rhodes and by his brother, Richard Rhodes, and step-daughter, Lisa Lundy
Following David's wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
