Obituary of Bill Mangels

William “Bill” H. Mangels, age 90 passed away on May 3, 2022, at the Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Bill was born on the family farm on September 23, 1931, in rural South Coffeyville, Oklahoma to Edmond and Beulah (Young) Mangels. Bill attended school at Bellview Rural School and graduated from Lenapah High School, he continued his education at Coffeyville Community College earning his Associates Degree. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Glenna Lowry and the couple was blessed with four children. Bill was a lifelong rancher who called Nowata County home since the day he was born. Bill and Glenna ran the Lowry-Mangels Ranch for over 60 years. Bill was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, a charter member of Oklahoma Cattleman’s Association, and he received the State of Oklahoma Co-operator Conservation of the Year Award in 2012. Bill’s memories will live on with his children; Judy Hinson of Claremore, OK, Glen Mangels of Bartlesville, OK, and Brenda Kujawa of Collinsville, OK, nine grandchildren; Matthew Hinson (Sarah), Andrew Hinson (Danette), Elizabeth Goodman (Bryan), Grant Mangels (Melissa), Amanda Mangels, Megan Likens (David), Sarah Yelverton (Chris), William Kujawa, and Stevie Napoleon (Cole), 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years Glenna, daughter Sara Ellen Mangels, granddaughter Amy Jean Mangels, daughter-in-law Cyndi Ann Mangels, and brothers, Howard Mangels and Harley Mangels. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Coffeyville at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jay Hobson of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Mt Washington Cemetery in Lenapah, Oklahoma. Friends may call on Sunday, May 8, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the family receiving friends 5:00 pm to 7:00pm at David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made payable to St Paul’s Lutheran Church or The Journey Home; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS 67337.
