Obituary of Linda Joan Graybill

Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Linda Joan (Denney) Graybill's job on Earth was done and God called her Home on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Medicalodge nursing home in Coffeyville, Kansas. What a Joyous day for her it was. Linda was born September 22, 1940, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Clyde and Ruth (Jordan) Denney. She lived in SW Kansas most of her life, her daddy worked on the railroad, and they moved often. In the late 50’s Linda moved to Clinton, Oklahoma where she met her handsome husband, Johnnie Graybill. They married on May 17, 1958. They made their home in Fairbanks, Alaska where Johnnie was stationed in the United States Air Force. She loved Alaska. Their first daughter Kimberly was born in Fairbanks, Alaska then they were stationed in Amarillo, Texas where their first son Robin was born. When Johnnie left the Air Force they moved to Leedey, Oklahoma and along came another daughter Lori. Linda was a stay-at-home mom until the kids started school then she was a bus driver for the Leedey Public School. In 1976 she bought the only café in Leedey, and it was named Linda’s Café. It was well known for its homemade food that included fresh cut French fries provided by child labor (Kim, Robin, Lori and whatever friends they could con that day) 1979 they moved to the farm outside of Coffeyville, Kansas. While living here Linda worked as a waitress at Rita’s Cafe, babysitter for many lucky kids, at Layton’s Drug Store, as a salesclerk at Economart and as an in-home caregiver. She loved meeting and working with people and people loved her. Even though she loved working in the public she loved her husband and children more. She never missed her children’s programs and sporting events, and as time permitted, her grand children’s events. Her family was her life. Linda had many hobbies, she loved to paint, do cross stitch, sewing, baking, and decorating cakes, doing puzzles, flower arranging, going to auctions in search of antiques, collecting beautiful teacups, hummingbirds and most of all reading. Her children think that she may have had a hidden hobby that was making a flyswatter sturdier. Linda is survived by her husband Johnnie Graybill of Coffeyville. Her children: Kimberly Strunk (Danny) Topeka, KS, Robin Graybill (Patricia) New Braunfels, TX, and Lori Kearns (Darrell) Inman, KS; her grandchildren Alyson Welch (Jason) Jamie Boss (Brad), Tyler Graybill, Zach Stunk, Lexi McHugh (Derek), Katelynne Strunk, Madison Richert (Layne), Hannah Graybill, Carlos (Gabriela) Graybill, Kayla Graybill, and Joseph Graybill, great-grandchildren: Dylan Welch, Alyssa LeClair (Jordan) Juliana Miller, Mayli Miller, Aubrey Boss, Kinsley Boss, Kahler Brown, Bronson Strunk, Brecklynne Richert, Zuri Strunk, Khalyx Richert, and Emerlee Richert. Her great-great-granddaughter Amelia LeClare. Her sister-in-law Sue Graybill her best friend Betty Kearns, and many dear friends in Oklahoma and Kansas. She left behind MANY nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Linda. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Ruth Denney. Her 5 siblings Norma Jean Starks, Patricia Thomas, Donna Kay Harper, Larry Denney, Lanny Denney, and her granddaughter Kaci Laird Blake. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 10:00am at Richland Cemetery near Angola.
