Phillip Gene Hooper, 62, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, August 19, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 4, 1960, at Independence, Kansas to Alan and Loneta “Lonnie” (Spillman) Hooper. Phillip grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School and attended Coffeyville Community College.
On August 3, 1991, Phillip was united in marriage to Darcey Ross at the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. Following their marriage, they made their home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma until moving to Coffeyville where they raised their children, Benjamin, Mark, and Kelli.
Phillip was a salesman for Pitney Bowes.
He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. He also was a member of NRA and the Coffeyville Shooting Club, he enjoyed target shooting, and flying radio-controlled airplanes, but his greatest joy was the time spent with his wife and children.
Phillip’s memory will live on with his wife, Darcey of the home; his children, Benjamin Hooper and wife, Jeanie of Topeka, Kansas, Mark Hooper, and Kelli Hooper both of the home; and his mother, Lonnie Hooper of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alan Hooper and his brother, Mike Hooper.
A Memorial Service celebrating Phillip’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the First Southern Baptist Church, 2701 West 8th St. in Coffeyville, with Pastor Luke Oldweiler officiating.
Private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the North Edna Cemetery at Edna, Kansas.
The family will greet friends on Friday, August 26th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials in Phillip’s memory to Angel Flight; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
