Obituary of Glenda Lou Yeubanks
Please share a memory of Glenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Glenda Lou Yeubanks, age 79, formerly of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at her daughter's home in rural Coffeyville, Kansas where she has resided the past few years.
Glenda was born on October 23, 1942 in rural Edna, Kansas. She was raised by her parents Clarence and Velva "Earlene" McCartney (Purdy) in Coffeyville, where she attended local schools.
On November 18, 1960 she married the love of her life, Floyd J. "Sonny" Yeubanks in Artesia, New Mexico. The couple lived in Coffeyville then moved to rural South Coffeyville where they spent their lives together until Sonny passed away on May 10, 2013. Sonny and his family were talented musicians and spent many years performing at the Country Time Theatre in Coffeyville. Glenda was supportive of his musical talent, always somewhere nearby enjoying the show. In those early years the couple also enjoyed attending the local barn dances and get togethers that friends and family held on the weekends. Glenda made a point to gather all the kids and grandkids she could to attend the Christmas show that Sonny and the others performed at Country Time every year.
Glenda was a member of the Central Church of the Nazarene, she had a strong faith and enjoyed reading her Bible often. She was a wonderful cook and made the best homemade biscuits and gravy along with a fantastic rice dish, SoS and fried chicken just to name a few of the family favorites.
Glenda always looked forward to their annual multi-generation vacations where they would visit either Kansas City, Branson, Missouri or Oklahoma City. Making memories and spending time with her family meant everything to Glenda. She loved playing games with the kids and grandkids; she taught many of them how to play Go Fish, Yahtzee, Aggravation and Slap Jack just to name a few. In her younger years she enjoyed painting ceramics. In later years she liked to try her luck at the casino. She was a huge fan of the television show "Big Brother" and would even take a nap if she needed just to make sure she could stay awake through all that night's show. Glenda had a huge heart. Everyone around her felt her love, including her special four-legged companion, her dog, Winnie that will miss her dearly and is already feeling her absence.
