Peggy L. Akin was born May 13, 1946, to Odell and Ollie Stout. Peggy departed this life on September 10, 2022, in Joplin, MO. Peggy was an avid flower gardener, spending many, many pleasant hours in her flower gardens. Peggy was a life-long member of the Coffeyville Church of Christ, having been baptized into the body of Christ at age 16. She was a well-loved bible class teacher for the church youth. Her teaching career lasted more than fifty years. The summer after high school graduation, she worked for Parmac (formerly Parkerburg Inc.). That summer job became a forty-three-year career. In 1980, Peggy married Ron Akin. The made their home in Coffeyville. In later life Ron and Peggy unofficially adopted Stephine Randall as a granddaughter; she survives. Peggy is also survived by her husband Ron and several siblings: Vernon, Joyce, Phyllis, Mickey (her twin) and Patti and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Glen and J.C and a sister, Laverne. At her request, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Christ, 1005 Siggins, Coffeyville, KS at 2:00 p.m., September 24, 2022. Visitation with the family will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Hope Harbor Children's Home and can be left at the funeral Home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N.
