Ruth A. Means, 88, of Coffeyville, Kansas, died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.
She was born October 7, 1925 in Independence, Kansas to George W. and Lucy Mae (Johnson) Stevens. Ruth grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School.
On January 26, 1944 she married Leo C. Means in Los Angeles, California, where she work at the shipyards during World War II. After the war they returned to Coffeyville to make their home and raise their children.
Ruth was a member of the Abundant Life Temple, and also attended Amazing Grace Ministries the Local #339 Auxiliary and the League of Democratic Women. She enjoyed sewing, writing poetry and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo in 1999, one son Stephen in 2006, five brothers, three sisters and her parents.
She is survived by two sons, Mickey Means and his wife, Sherry of South Coffeyville, OK and Richard Means of Coffeyville; two daughters, Jackie Moses and husband, Sonny and Donna Borum and husband, Randy all of Coffeyville; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Amazing Grace Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Eddie Greenfield officiating. Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
