James "Jim" Edward Morris, of Coffeyville, Kansas has gone to be with the Lord on the 5th day of November 2022, at the age of 92. Jim was born to George and Anna (Andres) Morris in Coffeyville on October 7, 1930, moving with his family in 1936 to Atchison, Kansas, where he was raised. He had some lifelong friends from his time there. He entered the service in 1948, serving a short time in the Army and then the Air Force until his retirement in 1969. He served in Korea, Japan, Canada, and Texas then finished at Great Falls, Montana. He was trained in radar. After his retirement, he sold life insurance and later recreational land in Montana. Jim went on to own and operate Morris Power Cleaning and A & M Furniture Stripping and Refinishing in Great Falls, Montana. He moved back to Coffeyville, Kansas with his wife and four of his six children in 1979 where he continued refinishing furniture for many years. Jim was known for his generosity and love of people, along with a love of humor and good jokes. His hobby in later years was drawing with colored pencils, he was great at subjects in nature and portraits of friends and family. Earlier in life, he created a cartoon character he named “Shine”. Jim gave Shine an appropriate costume, added some inspirational scripture, and with it, he produced a coloring book of his cartoon character to aid missionaries. Jim then made a smaller version, a coloring booklet that he enjoyed giving to children wherever he went. Jim went to Y.W.A.M. aka Youth With A Mission in Oregon with Rosa Lee for missionary training. Their trips were focused on Romania. He is survived by his wife Carol Morris of the home; sons, Kenneth (Ellen) Morris of Topeka, Kansas, Mark (Kathy) of Mulvane, Kansas, Steven (Kelly) Morris of East Point, Georgia; daughters, Deanna (Bruce) Showalter of Independence, Kansas, and Holly (Morris) Martz of Coffeyville, Kansas along with his loving stepchildren and their families, a daughter-in-law, Debbie Morris of Coffeyville, Kansas; 12 grandkids; 4 step-grandkids and 13 great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his son, Russell Morris; and two wives, Mary Frances (Miller) Morris and Rosa Lee (Hammond, O’Neal) Morris; his parents, George and Anna Morris; brothers, Lawrence, George ‘Jack’, Bob, Joe, Carl, Frank, and Harold; sisters, Marie Green and Esther Agnew. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church. Pastor Doug Mund will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville. Military Honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Visitation/Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 12th at Grace Fellowship Church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. service time. Memorial contributions can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Grace Fellowship Church; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in the care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS 67337.
