Obituary of Dickey W. Myers

Sedan - Dickey W. Myers, age 68, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Thursday, December 21, 2006 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. Dickey was born January 17, 1938 in Wichita Falls, Texas to James and Ruby (Cradock) Myers. He attended and graduated from Valley View High School in Valley View, Texas. He married Janice Blair on July 19, 1955 in Henrietta, Texas. Following their marriage, they moved to Wichita Falls, Texas. They lived there until moving to many other locations, finally moving to Sedan in February of 1974. Janice preceded him in death on October 19, 2005. He was a self-employed oil producer and worked in the oil fields for many years. He was a member of the Mason's and the Sedan Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing and after receiving his pilot's license, flying. He is survived by two sons, Ronald Myers and his wife Cindy of Shidler, Oklahoma and Rocky Myers of Montana, one daughter Kim Ellis and her husband Danny of Mariposa, California; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janice, one brother and one sister. Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Church of Christ in Sedan, Kansas with Joe Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society and these remembrances may be left at the funeral home.
