Dorothy Anna Unruh of Coffeyville passed away Friday morning (December 15, 2006) at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
She was born August 13, 1920 in Coffeyville to John and Katherine (Springer) Starts. She grew up on the family farm near Liberty, receiving her elementary education at Happy Valley School; she attended Field Kindley High School graduating in 1938 and graduated from Coffeyville Junior College in 1940.
After graduating from Coffeyville Junior College she worked at the First National Bank in Coffeyville and later at Coffeyville Loan and Investment Co. (CLIC).
On June 22, 1955 she married Robert Unruh at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. When her children were older she returned to work at Jones Truck Stop and later at the U.S.D. #445 Board Office in Coffeyville retiring in 1985. Mr. Unruh preceded her in death on September 25, 1998.
Dorothy was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Altar Society, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, SASNAK Dance Club, National Campers and Hikers Association (NCHA), Chief Black Dog Campers, and Starcraft Camping Club.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Unruh and his wife Joan, of Webber, Kansas, and John Unruh of Littleton, Colorado; one daughter, Ann Unruh of the home; and two granddaughters, Kirsten Unruh and Michelle Unruh both of Webber, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Robert Starts, and one sister, Katherine West.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday (December 17, 2006) at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday (December 18, 2006) at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville
The family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic School; contributions may be left with the funeral home.
