William H. "Bud" Rogers, Jr., 87, of rural Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008) at his sister's home in Tulsa, OK.
Bud was born on August 3, 1920 at Quincy, KS in Greenwood County to Bill and Jess (Goldey) Rogers who were sharecroppers. As a teenager his family moved to the banks of the Verdigris River west of Liberty. After completing the 8th grade he spent the remainder of his younger years working and learning the farming and cattle business.
He was employed as a pipe fitter at Farmland Refinery in Coffeyville for 31 years, working at night so he could tend to his farm north of Coffeyville during the day.
Survivors include two sisters, Martha Neuhofel of Neodesha, KS, and Elizabeth Crossman and husband David of Tulsa, OK; two nieces, Kathy Sue Crossman Velezques of Tulsa, OK, and Nancy Lynn Neuhofel Lackey of Cherryvale, KS; six nephews, Bill Crossman of Tulsa, OK, Randy Crossman of North Richland Hills, TX, Bob Neuhofel of Neodesha, KS, DeWayne Rosson of Welch, OK, and Roger Rosson of Edna, KS; nine great-nephews, 12 great-nieces, and three great-great nephews; and his special friend, Shirley Isnard of Coffeyville; and a host of other relatives, friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lucille Rosson of Edna.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 in the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville with Dr. Wayne Norton and Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
