Obituary of Clyde R. Jones

Sedan - Clyde R. Jones, 95, a lifetime Sedan area resident, passed away Monday morning (October 30, 2006) at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan. He was born July 14, 1911 in Sedan to Claud and Grace (Beemer) Jones. He grew up and attended schools in the Sedan and Wayside area. On September 28, 1935, he married Lena Belle Hubbard in Neosho, Missouri. Following their marriage, they made their home in Sedan where Mr. Jones was a partner in the Jones family oil business. Mrs. Jones preceded him in death on December 17, 2002. He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Sedan, a longtime member of Sedan Country Club, was one of the original stockholders in Golden Pin Lanes in Sedan and he was also an active stockholder at First National Bank in Sedan. He loved his family, golfing, fishing, bowling, and traveling. Survivors include one daughter, Myrna Jo Jones and her husband Stephen Cranford of Tulsa, OK; one brother Lee Russell Jones, Sr. of Sedan; two grandchildren, David Cable and his wife Karen of Bixby, OK; and Kristine Zorn and her husband Evan of Bartlesville, OK; and four great-grandchildren, Devan Kristopher Zorn and David O'neal Zorn both of Bartlesville, OK, and Mallory Emma Cable and Matthew Aaron Cable both of Bixby, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Dorothy Spurlock and Mildred Sleeth, and one brother, Claud Jones, Jr. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday (November 2, 2006) in the First Christian Church in Sedan, with Reverend Penny Goldberg officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan. The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church in Sedan and Pleasant Valley Manor, and these contributions may be left with the funeral home. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. Services are under the direction of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
