Coffeyville - Harold H. Countryman, 88, of Coffeyville died Sunday morning (October 8, 2006) at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born February 26, 1918, at Wymore, Nebraska to David and Rachel (Johnston) Countryman. He grew up and attended school in Topeka, KS. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. On September 21, 1940 he married Mary Kaup at Sharon, Kansas. Following their marriage the lived in Kingman, KS moving to the Dearing and Coffeyville area in 1969. His wife preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 1995. Mr. Countryman was a welder and carpenter. He was a member of the Tyro Christian Church. Survivors include three sons, Denny Countryman of Independence, Richard Countryman of Coffeyville, and James Countryman of Dearing; four daughters, Judy Wichert of Hutchinson, Betty Eveleigh, Arlene Chandler and Darlene O'Connell all of Coffeyville; 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, three sons, Larry Countryman, Howard Countryman, and Robert Countryman; one daughter, Carol Sue Countryman; one brother Lloyd Countryman; and one sister Alberta Long. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2006) in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Norton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard, Fort Riley, KS. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Memorials are suggested to the Tyro Christian Church, and the First Baptist Church, contributions may be left with the funeral home.
