Coffeyville - Lonnie C. Lakey, 64, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 3, 1949, at Nowata, OK, to Preston and Mamie (Parker) Lakey. Lonnie grew up and attended school at Nowata and Lenapah, OK. On June 2, 1972 he married Carol Rupert at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their family and Lonnie was a welder and Supervisor at Morrow Foundry for 42 years until retiring after becoming disabled. Lonnie attended the Childers Community Church in Childers, OK. He enjoyed fishing and loved being outdoors, but his greatest love was the time spent with his family, grandkids, and his animals. Survivors include his wife, Carol Lakey of the home; his children and their families, daughter, Lisa White and husband Danny of Delaware, OK and kids, Quinton, Kierstin, Erica, and Ethan; daughter, Ladonna Marlow of Coffeyville, and kids, Cody, Trey, and Kalli, and great-grandkids, Autumn, Damien, and Anna Lakey; son, Glenn Lakey and wife Natalie, and kids, Mecaela, Breanna, and Bentley; sisters, Barbara, Jackson of Childers, OK, Sharon Rogers and husband Dennis of Lenapah, OK, and Janice Clark and husband Ron of South Coffeyville, OK; and brother, Donnie Lakey and wife Susan of South Coffeyville, OK. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Lakey; one brother, Jackie Lakey; his father, Preston "Lonnie" Lakey; his mother, Mamie Lakey Cessna; his step-father, Orlo Cessna; and one brother-in-law, Dale Jackson. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2013, at the Childers Community Church in Childers, OK, with Pastors Roy and Ellie Stout, and Justin McKee officiating. Burial will be in the Ball Cemetery at Childers. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the Childers Community Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
