Virginia Lee Lawrence, 82, of Inola, Oklahoma, and (longtime Cedar Vale resident) passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Inola, Oklahoma.
She was born on September 12, 1924 to Ben and Edith (Graham) Davis in Sedan, Kansas. She graduated from Sedan High School in 1942. On January 23, 1943, she married Loyd Edmond Lawrence in Sedan. They made their home in the Hewins area before moving to Cedar Vale in 1961. She worked at the Post Office and later worked at Loyd's Garage until they retired in 1987. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 15, 2005. In October of 2005, she moved to the Inola Health Care Center to be close to her family.
She loved to work in her yard. She said the secret was to say a prayer when you planted. She enjoyed crafts, and she loved doing the daffodils for the cancer fund.
She is survived by one son, Ed and his wife June Lawrence of Wagoner, Ok, two granddaughters Cindy and Renee, and five great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, and six sisters.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2006 at the Ozro Falls Cemetery, NW of Hewins, with Roger Lawrence officiating.
The family has requested there will be no visitation.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Cedar Vale Rural Health Clinic and contributions may be left with the funeral home.
