James P. "Jim" Gooding, 90, of Coffeyville, passed away Tuesday night (August 1, 2006) at Windsor Place.
He was born April 9, 1916 at Van Buren, Arkansas to A.B. "Judge" and Bertha (Allen) Gooding. He grew up in Arkansas where he received his education.
In 1932 he married Marcella Meyer at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they lived in Arkansas and South Coffeyville, Oklahoma before moving to Coffeyville in 1939.
He was employed as an assembly man at Parmac for many years until he retired.
Mr. Gooding was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 AF & AM, and Scottish Rite at Fort Scott and Shrine at Pittsburg He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella of the home; three daughters, Shirley Carpenter of Tulsa, OK, Donnell Baggett of Northglenn, Colorado, and Gaila Donaldson of Coffeyville; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Randy Donaldson.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday (August 4, 2006) in the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville with Dr. Wayne Norton officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park with Masonic rites conducted by Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 AF & AM.
Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Shriner Cripples Children's Hospital; contributions may be left with the funeral home.
