Todd Alan Hurlbutt, 47, of Coffeyville, passed away Saturday (July 29, 2006) in Coffeyville.
He was born October 25, 1958 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to L.E. and Joan (Rathbun) Hurlbutt. He moved to Coffeyville with his family in 1970. He attended Edgewood Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1977. He received his Associate of Arts degree from Coffeyville Community College, where he was on the golf team. Todd received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University in 1982.
After graduating from Kansas State University he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and obtained his real estate license.
On November 24, 1984, he married Shari Fulhage in Beloit, Kansas. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville and Todd worked with his parents and brother at K & S Oil Company. In 1992 he began buying real estate in Coffeyville and in 1998 started his own rental property company.
Todd enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and was especially proud watching his children play sports. He was a volunteer baseball coach for his twin sons baseball teams for many years. Each summer he liked to travel to the family cabin at Vallecito Lake, Colorado where he spent a few weeks every summer with his family fishing, riding motorcycles, golfing and relaxing.
Survivors include his wife, Shari of the home; one daughter Darcy Marie Hurlbutt, twin sons, Dustin Michael Hurlbutt and Cody Alan Hurlbutt all of the home; his father, L.E. "Eldo" Hurlbutt of Coffeyville; and one brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Florrie Hurlbutt of Coffeyville. He was preceded in death by his mother Joan Hurlbutt and one brother Michael Lee Hurlbutt.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (August 3, 2006) in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jenny Collins officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family requests memorials to an education fund being established for his children at Community State Bank in Coffeyville, contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
