Robert M. "Bob" Perkins, 74, of Coffeyville, passed away Thursday (July 20, 2006) at his home.
He was born October 7, 1931 at Okemah, Oklahoma to Jodie Richard and Frances Marie (Bringham) Perkins. He grew up in Okfuskee where he attended school.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
On October 17, 1951 he married Elsie Morris at Bentonville, Arkansas. They moved to Coffeyville in 1956. Mrs. Perkins preceded him in death on July 22, 1981.
On May 17, 1985 he married Nelda Cessna at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they continued making their home in Coffeyville.
Mr. Perkins was employed at Acme Foundry for 35 years retiring in 1993.
He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Nelda of the home; one daughter, Linda Cushman of Neodesha; one step-daughter, Ronda Clark of Ramona, OK; three step-sons, John Lilburn of Coffeyville, Don Gowen of Wichita, and Larry Gowen of Houston, TX; one brother, Jesse Perkins of Vinita, OK; one sister, Betty Lou Armstrong of Coffeyville; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one step-son, one great-granddaughter, one brother, and two sister.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by the U.S. Army, Fort Riley, Kansas
Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
