Coffeyville -
Betty J. Provorse, 80, of Coffeyville passed away Monday morning (July 17, 2006) at Windsor Place.
She was born October 10, 1925 at Independence, Kansas to Richard Virgil and Emma (Loggan) Fortner. She moved to Coffeyville with her family when she was young where she attended Lowell School, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from Field Kindley High School.
On December 31, 1949 she married Clifford Provorse at Oswego, Kansas. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville, where Mr. Provorse worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and Betty was a homemaker and later was employed for 15 years at Western Publishing Co. Mr. Provorse preceded her in death on January 24, 2006.
Mrs. Provorse attended the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Joyce and Russ Hutchins of Lawrence, KS, and Randi and Phil Bernhart of Coffeyville; one brother, R.V. Fortner of Topeka, KS; one sister, Margie Marang of Coffeyville; four grandchildren, Ryan and Tasha Hutchins of Kansas City, MO, Jennifer Hutchins of Lawrence, KS, Elizabeth Bernhart and Michelle Bernhart both of Coffeyville; and two great-grandchildren, Kenidy Hutchins and Jonathan Storey both of Kansas City, MO.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (July 22, 2006) in the Chapel at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. John Collins officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
