Obituary of Ruth Broker

Coffeyville - Ruth Marie Broker, 85, of South Coffeyville, OK, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. She was born February 27, 1929 in Coffeyville to Elmer and Elsie (Gerler) Moon. Ruth grew up in Coffeyville and attended McKinley Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High and Field Kindley High School graduating in 1946. On June 10, 1951, she married Johnnie Broker at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Coffeyville. Following their marriage the couple made their home in rural South Coffeyville, where Mr. Broker farmed and worked at Sherwin-Williams Co. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2007. Ruth was employed at S.H. Kress & Co., then at the Condon National Bank for over 45 years, retiring as Cashier in 1994. She enjoyed cooking, reading, fishing, gardening especially growing flowers, taking care of the hummingbirds and others, spending time with family and friends, and her dog Lucky. She was a member St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and the Priscilla Guild of the church. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, George O. Clark; her husband, and two sisters, Rozella Mangels and Betty Blue. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Peckman officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
