Leslie James "Skip" Shy, 59, of Coffeyville, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK.
He was born May 2, 1954 at Coffeyville to E.J. and Darlene (Rosson) Shy. Skip grew up and attended school in South Coffeyville, OK, completing his education at Lenapah High School in Lenapah, OK.
Skip married Betty Jeannie Tosh, to this union two sons were born. They were later divorced.
During his life he worked at several different jobs until becoming disabled.
He had attended Emmanuel Chapel in South Coffeyville, OK. Skip was a member of NRA and the Coffeyville Shooting Club. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.
Survivors include two sons, Shane D. Shy and wife Rhonda of South Coffeyville, OK, and Shawn James Shy of Lane, KS; two sisters, Jackie Waddle and husband Jim of Lane, KS, and Debbie Smith of Coffeyville; one brother, E.J. Shy, Jr. and wife Kathy of South Coffeyville, OK; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Chris Shy.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Mt. Washington Cemetery at Lenapah, OK.
Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Emmanuel Chapel in South Coffeyville, OK; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
