Obituary of Lawanda Jean Penn-Neal

Coffeyville - Lawanda Jean Penn-Neal, 69, of Coffeyville, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born July 31, 1944, at Pawnee, OK, to Albert and Beulah Mae (Thomas) Penn. When she was young her family moved to Coffeyville where she grew up and attended school. She married Harry Neal and they were later divorced. She was a member of the Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church in Coffeyville. Lawanda enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Natasha Davis and England Neal both of Coffeyville; four sons, Maurice Neal of Independence, James Neal of Parsons, Harry Neal Jr. of Tulsa, OK, and Chavoris Neal of Wichita; three sisters, Sharon Penn Harris of Wichita, Della Penn Ellis and Florence Penn Johnson both of California; two brothers, James Penn of Delaware, OK, and Albert Penn of California; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jeretta Penn Strickland on November 1, 2012; and one brothers, Phillip Penn in 2011. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Lane officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
