Gladys C. Keeny, 99 of Sedan passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Sedan City Hospital.
She was born June 24, 1914 in Sedan, Kansas. Gladys worked at the Sedan Times Star, Secretary at the First United Methodist Church in Sedan, Secretary at Sedan High School where she retired.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church for most of her life.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sewing, and taking care of her flowers. She was also very active in Beta Sigma Phi as she was one of the first ladies to start the sorority over fifty years ago.
Gladys is survived by one son, Curtis Keeny of Yukon, Oklahoma and one daughter, Susan McElroy of Sedan, Kansas; three grandsons, Shane McElroy of Wichita, Kansas, Todd Keeny of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Chad McElroy of Dallas, Texas; Seven great-grandchildren, Chesney, Devin, and Christian Keeny; Lauren and Alan Veloz; and Canaan and Korah McElroy.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sedan with Reverend Jerry Bever officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan.
The family has suggested memorials to the First United Methodist Church and can be left with the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
