Marie A. Johanson, age 81 of Coffeyville, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
Marie was born on August 7, 1926 to Sebastian Gallus and Bronislawa (Miuszczakowska) Gallus in Berlin-Koepenick, Germany.
She attended school in Berlin and graduated from high school. In 1957, she moved to America and lived in Chicago until 1992 when she moved to Coffeyville. Marie was known around town as the "German lady who made the best cakes."
Marie is survived by two daughters, Chris Gordon of Coffeyville and Angelika Cook of Kenosha, Wisconsin; one son, Franz Cook of Arlington Heights, Illinois; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Marie has been preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Christina Artmann, and her husband, Einar Johanson.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville with Fr. Jerome Spexarth officiating.
Friends may sign the book at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville on Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Johnson Cancer Center at K-State. Memorials may be left with the funeral directors or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS, 67337.
