Coffeyville - James R. "Jim" Brown, of Nowata, OK, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at his home. He was born February 2, 1927 at Coffeyville, to Charles and Ada Brown. Jim grew up and attended school in the Coffeyville, KS and South Coffeyville, OK area and graduated from Lenapah High School in Lenapah, OK. Jim made his home in the Coffeyville area until moving to Nowata, OK, in 1988. Jim was a Machine Shop Supervisor, he enjoyed Nascar Racing, and his dogs. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Polk of Phoenix, AZ, one step-son, Ernest Burrus of Broken Arrow, OK; nephew, Bill Collins and Family; and four grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his companion of over 40 years Fern Burrus; three brothers; and two sisters. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Veterans Patio in Fairview Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
