Denis Sean Gallagher, 58, of South Coffeyville, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 169 north of the Oklahoma State line.
He was born October 6, 1954 at Pittsburg, KS to John Michael and Doris Maxine (Daniels) Gallagher. Denis grew up and attended school in Pittsburg, graduating from high school in 1973.
Denis was a Drug and Alcohol Counselor and was the owner of Alcohol Drug Safety Action Program of SEK for over 20 years retiring in 2012.
On December 18, 1987 he married Sue Rogers at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in the Coffeyville, KS and South Coffeyville, OK area.
He attended Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville. Denis was a Dive Master and enjoyed scuba diving, he was also a licensed pilot, built his own airplane, enjoyed sky diving, riding his Harley-Davidson, was an avid Nascar fan, and liked helping people especially those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Houston, TX; two sons, Leif Gallagher and wife Desiree of Spring, TX, and Devin Gallagher of Spring, TX; one step-son, Ryan McCullough of South Coffeyville, OK; one brother, Daniel Gallagher and wife Shannon of Clarksville, AR; one grandson, River Gallagher of Spring, TX; one niece, Misty Renfroe of Armorel, AR; and one nephew Sean Gallagher of Los Angeles, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Terrance Gallagher and Ronald Gallagher.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Mike Elrod officiating. Following the service cremation will take place and private family inurnment will take place at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS
Friends may call on Thursday, July 4, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Westside Christian Church, or Crisis Pregnancy Center; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
