Coffeyville - Alice A. Allen, 95, of Coffeyville passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at her home. She was born April 5, 1918 at Vinita, OK to Alfred E. and Alice A. (Dolon) Morrey. In 1924 her family moved to Coffeyville. Alice attended Holy Name Catholic School, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from Field Kindley High School. After completing high school she attended nursing school at Independence. On April 22, 1940 she married Carl H. Allen at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made home in Coffeyville where they raised their family. Alice worked as a sales clerk at Brown Furniture Store for 26 years. Her husband preceded her in death on November 20, 2004. Alice was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Altar Society, Prayer Chain and quilters group. She enjoyed ceramics, playing cards, quilting and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include four sons, Tom Allen and wife Brenda of Argyle, TX, Jim Allen and wife Marsha of Caney, John Allen and wife Sharon of Hope Mills, NC, and Harry Allen and wife Diana of Floresville, TX; two daughters, Mary "Audie" Woody and husband Jim of rural South Coffeyville, and Anne Logan and husband David of rural Coffeyville; one sister, Nell Flanagan of Laguna Vista, TX; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one granddaughter, Rhonda Kay Allen; one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild; her brother Alfred E. Morrey II, and her twin brother, Tom Morrey. A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 at Holy Name Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
