Coffeyville - Hazel R. Hendrix, 95, of Coffeyville went to see her Lord and Savior, on Monday, May 27, 2013. She was born August 2, 1917 at Simmons, Missouri to Frank and Ann (Hogan) Bishop. Hazel grew up and attended school in Simmons. She moved to the Coffeyville area in 1937. On March 4, 1939 she married Ralph Hendrix at Tyro, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. She was employed at Jolly Kids, and later at City Laundry. Her husband preceded her in death on May 4, 1997. Hazel was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, growing flowers, and gardening, but her favorite time was being with her family. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Alexander, Connie Jaggers and husband Darell, and Janet Thomas all of Coffeyville; two sons, Jim Hendrix and wife Marilyn, and Bruce Hendrix and wife Theresa all of Coffeyville; one daughter-in-law, Fran Hendrix of Portland, OR; two sisters, Norma Gentry and husband Bill of Coffeyville, and Gladine Liner of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Robert Bishop and wife Barbara of St. Louis, MO; three sisters-in-law, Ramona Bishop of Coffeyville, Sherry Bishop of Kansas City, KS, and Theresa Bishop of Wichita; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Robert Hendrix in 2011; two sisters, Thelma Francis, and Edna Pate; three brothers, Wilburn Bishop, Jackie Bishop, and Frank Bishop; three grandchildren, Shawn Phipps, Brooks Alexander and David Alexander; and two sons-in-law, Edward Alexander, and Jerry Thomas. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lee Passwater officiating. Burial will be Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call on Thursday May 30, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church, or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
