Sedan- Janet Marie Arentz, age 49 of Cedar Vale, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at her home in Cedar Vale. She was born on March 5, 1964 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Eva (Voigtlander) Duncan and Richard Martin. She grew up and attended school in Cedar Vale, Kansas, graduating with the class of 1982. She worked at Hilltop Cafe, the Cedar Vale Nursing Home, and the Cedar Vale Locker. She loved her work at the locker and being with her "boys". She met Steve Arentz in the summer of 1982; they married on July 16, 1983. They later had two wonderful children. Janet was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed to cook, fish, camp, garden, and work outside in the yard. Janet is survived by her husband Steve Arentz of Cedar Vale, Kansas; one daughter, Julia Jarboe and husband Travis of Mulvane, Kansas; one son Josh Arentz of Cedar Vale, Kansas; her father Richard Martin and step-mother Glenda of Maple City, Kansas; her step-father Cecil Duncan of Cedar Vale, Kansas; one step-brother, Danny Roadenbaugh; nephews Clint and Jason Kennedy of Cedar Vale, Kansas; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother Eva Duncan, step father Ray Roadenbaugh, and one brother Edward Eugene Voigtlander, and one sister Jennifer Kennedy. Church Services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale, Kansas with Reverend Mark Davis officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedar Vale Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to the Relay for Life Team Misguided or the Josh Arentz Scholarship Fund and contributions may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
