Floyd J. "Sonny" Yeubanks, 79, of rural South Coffeyville, OK, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at his daughter's home in rural Coffeyville.
He was born January 14, 1934 at Coffeyville to Floyd A. and Virgie(Frye) Yeubanks. Sonny grew up and attended school in the Coffeyville area, completing his education at Field Kindley Sonny was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
On November 18, 1960 he married Glenda Shepard at Artesia, New Mexico. Following their marriage they made their home in the Coffeyville area before moving to rural South Coffeyville, OK. Sonny was a Purchasing Agent for Nowata County, OK for many years until retiring.
He attended Central Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville, and was a former member of the V.F.W. Sonny enjoyed music often performing at Country Time Theater in Coffeyville where people loved to hear him sing "Milk Cow Blues", but above all he loved time spent with his wife and family.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda of the home; four daughters, Elaine Murphy, and Sue Ebright of California, Shelly Cloke and husband, Tony of Coffeyville, and Rhonda Shearhart and husband Jimmy of South Coffeyville, OK; one son, Randy Yeubanks and wife Diane of South Coffeyville, OK; three sisters, Edith Kuehn of South Coffeyville, OK, Gloria Kuehn of South Coffeyville, and Virginia Price of Coffeyville; three brothers, Willard Yeubanks of Coffeyville, Carrol of Coffeyville, and Ronald of Coffeyville; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one daughter, three brothers, and four sisters.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Central Church of the Nazarene, 9th and Hall in Coffeyville. Following Sonny's wishes cremation will take place after the service and a private family inurnment will take place at the North Edna Cemetery at Edna, KS at a later date.
Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
