Winfred Ray "Bud" Maggard, 68, of Coffeyville, passed away Thursday May 2, 2013 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.
He was born on October 8, 1944 to Winfred and Martha (Sprague) in Pryor, OK. Winfred moved to Coffeyville as a child and attended rural schools and Coffeyville schools.
Winfred served two years in the United States Army.
On December 20, 1963 he married Alice Long in Coffeyville. After their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. They have been at their current residence for the last 27 years.
Winfred worked at Jencast for over 20 years before retiring on September 29, 2008 as maintenance lead man.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God. Winfred was a caregiver for his wife and mother in law. When he wasn't lending a helping hand, he enjoyed collecting dolphins, Hesston National Final Rodeo Belt Buckles, and being around cats and dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Maggard of the home; one son, Robert Maggard of Wichita Falls, TX; one sister, Deloris Smith and her husband O.B. of Enid, OK; one granddaughter, Brittani Maggard of Springs, TX; one sister-in-law, Jane Long of Tulsa, OK; one brother-in- law, Stanley Long of Greenville, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and neices.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Virginia Searcy.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the First Assembly of God with Rev. Randy DePriest officiating. Burial will be at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
