Sedan- Lois June Padgett, age 76 of Sedan passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan, Kansas. She was born on November 30, 1936 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to M. A. "Sam" Pinkerton and Mildred (Starr) Pinkerton. She attended College High in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She later received her GED. On May 23, 1953 she married Elmer Earl Padgett in Charleston, Arkansas they made their home in Bartlesville until moving to Sedan in 1966. Lois received her Associates of Nursing degree from Labette County Community College and later received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Pittsburg State University. She worked for twenty five years at the Sedan City Hospital as a registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl on January 23, 2002. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, and attending her grandchildren's activities. She is survived by three daughters; Audrey Padgett of Chautauqua, Kansas, Debra Wieden and husband Dale of Baldwin City, Kansas, and Linda Padgett of Caney, Kansas; one son, Albert Padgett and wife Starla of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Doris Young of Ochelata, Oklahoma and Sharon Tucker of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; one brother, Jerry Pinkerton of Ochelata, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Earl Wayne Padgett, one daughter, Susan Stewart, and her husband Earl Padgett. The family has requested that the casket be closed. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jonesburg Church in rural Chautauqua with Earl Tresner officiating. Burial will follow at the Riley Cemetery east of Sedan. Memorials have been suggested to the Jonesburg Church and contributions may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
