Sedan - Frederick H. "John" Kirchner, 100, of Sedan passed away Saturday morning, July 5, 2008, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan. He was born March 29, 1908 on the family farm west of Sedan to Henry F. and Tuba (Kendell) Kirchner. He grew up on the family farm attending Ross City School in Chautauqua County. He married Mary Alford, they were later divorced. John attended the First Christian Church in Sedan, he was a former Deacon. Mr. Kirchner also belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodge. He lived in Shawnee, OK for several years where he did construction work. In 1962 he returned to the family farm west of Sedan where he farmed and raised cattle, until moving to Luther, OK in 1995 to make his home with his son. He returned to Sedan in June 2007. Survivors include one son, Herbert Kirchner and his fiance Joann Hegi of Luther, OK; one daughter, Reta Gardner of Sedan; one sister Imogene Kelley of Colorado; one sister-in-law, Alta Foster of Collinsville, OK; four grandchildren, John L. Gardner, Joseph Scott Gardner, Anna Perkins, and Jeffery Lee Gardner; six great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews; cousin, Caroline Pottebaum. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harold T. Kirchner; and two sisters, Marie Kirchner, and Mildred Kirchner. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in the Greenwood Cemetery at Sedan. The family requests memorials to the Pleasant Valley Manor Activity Fund; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
