Sedan - Wilma Jean "Jeannie" Kennedy, age 65, of Elk City, Kansas passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at her home in Elk City, Kansas. She was born October 15, 1942 in Belknap, Kansas to Guy and Ola (Petty) Runyan. She attended Belknap grade school and graduated from Moline High School. On January 26, 1962 she married Jimmy J. Kennedy at Wichita, Kansas. They made their home in the Chautauqua county area where she worked as a waitress in several cafes, she also worked at the Cedar Vale Nursing Home and the Cedar Vale Hospital. She spent most of her life in the Chautauqua County area. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy J. Kennedy on January 21, 2008. She enjoyed animals, gardening, cooking for her grandsons and mowing her lawn. She is survived by two sons, James A. Kennedy of Elk City, Kansas, and Robert J. Kennedy of rural Sedan, Kansas; two grandsons, Clint and Jason Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, one sister, and a daughter-in-law. Register book signing will be held Thursday, April10, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Friday, April 11, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Belknap Community Building with Allen L. Runyan and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Chaplain Mike Graham. Inurnment will follow at the Belknap Cemetery. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Belknap Cemetery Fund or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and these remembrances may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361
