Mildred Hyatt, 93, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at her home.
She was born January 19, 1920 at rural Liberty, KS to Dan and Clara (Miller) O'Meara. Mildred grew up in the Liberty area and attended Liberty school, at the age of 14 Mildred graduated from Cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician, a profession she practiced for 75 years.
On January 30, 1943 she married A.C. "Jim" Hyatt at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville, where Mildred owned and operated Hyatt Beauty Shop. Her husband preceded her in death on May 23, 2005.
Mildred was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and Holy Name Altar Society. She loved to play bingo, and enjoyed quilting making many quilts for bazaars at Holy Name, but what she loved most was spending time with her family.
Survivors include three sons, Jim D. Hyatt and wife, Corky of Stilwell, KS, Butch Hyatt and wife, Sandy of Coffeyville, and Bill Hyatt and wife, Pat of Grandview, MO; two daughters, Kay Hyatt of Coffeyville and Sue Hook of Grandview, MO; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters; two brothers; and one son-in-law.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Holy Name Catholic School; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
