Obituary of Beatrice Eggen

Sedan - Beatrice Baylor (Slaughter) "Batsy" Eggen, age 95, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan, Kansas. She was born November 27, 1912 in Elgin, Kansas to Alban and Minnie (Herard) Slaughter. She attended St. Mary's School in Indiana and then after moving to Elgin, Kansas graduated from Elgin High School. She married John Smith Eggen on April 11, 1934 in Howard, Kansas. She was a member of Saint Roberts Catholic Church and the Osage Indian Tribe. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Janice Eggen Reed and husband Jerry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one grandson, Jay Kilbie Eggen Reed and wife Jennifer; one daughter- in-law, Jane Eggen, two granddaughters; Jennifer Eggen, and Kathy Davidson and husband Sammy; two great-granddaughters, Jordan and Kari Davidson, one great-great grandson Kaden. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John and her son Johnny, both in 1995. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. A Rosary Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Robert's Catholic Church in Sedan, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2008 at the St. Robert's Catholic Church in Sedan, Kansas with Father Sixtus Myint officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society and these remembrances may be left in care of David W.
