Sedan - Emma Mae (Smith) Wilson A wife of noble character, worth far more than rubies was found by Clayton Leslie Wilson when he married Emma on May 22, 1949. Emma entered this world February 5, 1931 the daughter of Nellie Ann (Hines) Smith and Lee Monroe Smith. As a young woman she gave her heart and soul to Jesus Christ. Rising up and calling her blessed are her children; Linda Bailey of Sedan, Kansas; Cinda Osburn and husband Mike of Nevada, Mo; Lana Brewster and husband Monnie of Sedan, Ks; and Mark Wilson and wife Shelley of Peru, Ks; She has nine grandchildren; Clay Bailey, P.J. Bailey, Jennifer (Osburn) Braun; Justin Osburn; Nathan Brewster; Adam Wilson; Haze Wilson; Caleb Bechtle; and Cody Wilson. She has ten great-grandchildren. She spoke to them all with wisdom and faithful instruction was on her tongue. She offered each day a prayer covering for her children calling out each name individually. She watched over the affairs of her household and did not eat the bread of idleness as she worked as a pastor's wife, mother and grandmother. Many women do noble things but she surpassed them all in her work in the church with children. Many young hearts were eternally influenced because her lamp never ran out of oil. Emma worked at the Sedan City Hospital for many years placing a caring hand on many lives and doing her favorite nursing duty, rocking the newborn babies. She opened her arms to the poor and extended her hands to the needy. She completely wore out a couple of sewing machines covering her childrenand supplying clothes for others in need. Emma sewed with love when she made her daughters' wedding dresses. Emma was quick to laughter, healed small injuries and calmed many storms with a smile. Prior to her heavenly departure she was continuing her life-long ministry at the Sedan Assembly of God. Emma truly exemplified the Virtuous women described in Proverbs 31. Emma went to receive her reward February 1, 2013. Graveside services were held February 2, 2013 at the Peru Cemetery, Peru, Kansas with her Pastor Paul Stetz which led the celebration for Emma.
