Sedan - Leona Fern Burdett, age 86, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Continuous Care Center in Bartlesville Oklahoma. She was born November 5, 1921in Leeds, Kansas to Jess and Lila Ann (Wiley) Fildes. She attended school in Hewins, Kansas. She married Alfred Burdett on March 25, 1939 in Winfield, Kansas. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting and knitting. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Burdett of the home in Sedan, Kansas; two daughters, Janet Evans and Nedra Burdett both of Sedan, Kansas; three grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, six brothers and son-in-law Richard Evans. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 07, 2008 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Wauneta United Methodist Church in Wauneta, Kansas with Reverend Jerry Bever and Gary Cole officiating. Interment will follow at the Cedar Vale Cemetery in Cedar Vale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
