Obituary of Danny Willard

Coffeyville - Danny E. Willard, 56, of Independence, passed away Wednesday January 30, 2013 at his home. He was born on October 22, 1956 to Bobby and Velma (Prather) Willard at Neodesha. Danny grew up in Neodesha, where he attended schools; he graduated from Neodesha High School. On January 17, 1987 he married Kay Bruington in Bolton, KS. After marriage they made their home in Independence. Danny worked at MEC in Neodesha for many years and at the time of his death he was self-employed. He was a member of Bolton's FriendsChurch, where he was the church treasurer and also a member of the Carson Lodge Post #132 of ElkCity, where he was a lifetime member and a Past Master. He was a member of the Mirza Shrine. Danny enjoyed cooking breakfast for the Masonic Lodge every 4th Sunday. He also enjoyed Shrine events. The favorite event had to be the combine demo. derby in which he participated. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting and loved watching football; he was a big Raider's fan, but what he cherished the most was being able to help people. He is survived by his wife Kay Willard of the home; two sons Jamie and Justin Willard of Fredonia; his mother, Velma Matoush and her husband Roy of Independence; his step-mother, Glenda Willard of Neodesha; four brothers, John, David and Tim of Neodesha, and Mark of Pleasanton, KS, three sisters; Sheryl Johnson of Parsons, Sandy Skinner of Denver, CO, and Debbie Newman of Independence; two grandchildren, thirteen nieces and eight nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday February 9, 2013 at the Bolton's Friends Church with Pastor Grady Miller officiating. Private family burial will follow at Harrisonville Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home and then from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Family suggests memorials to the Bolton's FriendsChurch, the Carson Lodge Post #132 of ElkCity or the Mirza Shrine General Fund; contributions may be left at the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
